The Batman 2 Delayed Until 2027, But Mickey 17 Release Date Moves Up
In a surprise move, Warner Bros. has announced that The Batman Part II will be delayed until October 1st, 2027. This comes as a disappointment to fans of the franchise who were eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series.
However, on a more positive note, it appears that Bong Joon-Ho’s Mickey 17 is moving up its release date to March 7th, 2025. The sci-fi thriller stars Robert Pattinson and Steven Yeun, among others, and follows a willing and literally disposable employee as he navigates his many doors of death.
It seems that Warner Bros. has decided to shift the release dates to accommodate other projects in their pipeline. According to reports, an unnamed film starring Tom Cruise will take The Batman Part II’s original October 2nd, 2026 spot, further solidifying the delay.
Mickey 17 was initially set for a 2024 release but faced delays of its own, which has resulted in this new timeline. The change in release dates is likely due to Warner Bros.’ desire to give Mickey 17 more time on Imax screens, as it will now be released simultaneously with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which was originally set for April 18th.
Fans are understandably upset about the delay of The Batman Part II, but many are looking forward to the earlier release date of Mickey 17.
