Galaxy Research Predicts US will not Buy Bitcoin in 2025
According to a recent report by Galaxy Digital Research, the United States government is unlikely to purchase any significant amount of Bitcoin in the upcoming year. The research firm’s predictions suggest that the focus will remain on maintaining the current balance of bitcoins while examining the possibilities of long-term use of cryptocurrencies in a treasury.
As per the report, it appears that the US authorities are set to assess a Bitcoin reserve policy but do not plan to make any major purchases in the near future. The emphasis seems to be on securing the existing stockpile rather than expanding it.
Interestingly, Galaxy Research’s prediction also suggests that five companies listed on the Nasdaq 100 index and five nation-states may decide to add Bitcoin to their reserves by 2025. This development could potentially lead to increased competition for Bitcoin from nations with substantial sovereign wealth funds or countries aiming to counter US economic dominance.
It is worth noting that the US government currently holds approximately 183,850 Bitcoins, which are valued at around $17.36 billion.
