The report highlights the alarming rise in credential compromise attacks, which has led to a sharp escalation in advanced exploit kits and social engineering tactics. It is crucial that Google users are aware of these threats and take necessary measures to protect themselves.
One effective way to do so is by enabling Google’s Advanced Protection Program (APP). This program requires users to use a passkey or hardware security key to verify their identity and sign in to their Gmail account, providing an additional layer of security against phishing attacks. In other words, even if hackers know your username and password, they will not be able to access your account without possession of the passkey.
Furthermore, APP also enhances Google’s Chrome safe browsing by performing further checks before each download, ensuring that only app installations from verified stores are allowed.
