Eyewitnesses to South Korea Plane Crash Recount Sparks in Engine, Bird Strike Before Collision
New eyewitness accounts have emerged from the recent South Korean plane crash at Muan International Airport, which has left many questions unanswered. According to these witnesses, they saw a series of concerning events unfold just before the tragic incident.
One witness, identified as Yoo, claimed that he saw a spark on the plane’s right wing before it crashed into the concrete wall at the end of the runway. “I was telling my family there was a problem with the plane when I heard a loud explosion,” Yoo stated.
Another eyewitness, Cho, said he witnessed the plane descending and then noticing a flash of light before hearing a series of explosions. He noted that the plane seemed to be unable to land on its initial attempt, and it had to circle back around before the crash occurred.
Separately, Kim Yong-cheol reported hearing metallic scraping sounds twice about five minutes prior to the incident. He claimed that he observed the plane attempting to ascend after failing to land before being met with a loud explosion and black smoke billowing into the sky.
Additionally, another witness identified as Jung shared his account of seeing a flock of birds colliding with the plane, resulting in a fire in the right engine. “As the plane was landing on the runway, it hit a flock of birds approaching from the opposite direction,” he recalled. “I heard two or three bangs as if the birds had been sucked into the engine before I saw flames coming from the right engine.”
The new accounts corroborate previous reports suggesting that some type of malfunction may have occurred on board the aircraft prior to the crash.
