Tired of DeFi: Ethena’s Head of Growth Steps Down
Seraphim Czecker, the head of growth at Ethena, has announced his departure from the protocol to take a break and pursue “artistic satisfaction”. Despite being instrumental in Ethena’s rise to prominence within the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem, Czecker expressed exhaustion as one of the reasons for stepping down.
In a tweet, Czecker mentioned that he had been working non-stop without any real holidays, having worked with every major liquidity provider, protocol, and key opinion leader in the space. He stated, “I’ve done literally everything you could do in DeFi.” His announcement comes as a surprise to many, given his pivotal role in Ethena’s success.
Under Czecker’s leadership, the USDe stablecoin issuer achieved a total value locked (TVL) of nearly $6 billion. This significant milestone underscores the impact he has had on the DeFi sector. Despite this success, it appears that Czecker is seeking a change of pace to focus on his personal creative pursuits.
While stepping away from his leadership role, Czecker plans to continue supporting Ethena from the sidelines. He will take a one- to two-month break to recharge and explore art, fashion, and other creative endeavors.
