LG’s Lightweight Gram Laptops Get New Intel Chips and Offline AI Features
LG has unveiled a series of updates to its ultra-light Gram laptop lineup, including the addition of cloud-based and on-device AI-powered features that take its current offerings to the next level. The new laptops will be powered by either Intel Arrow Lake Core Ultra H-Series or Lunar Lake Core Ultra V-Series processors.
The company is introducing three new LG Gram Pro laptops, featuring 17-inch and 16-inch models with 2,560 x 1,600 displays, up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, and up to 2TB Gen4 NVMe SSDs. The 16-inch Gram Pro and 2-in-1 will be equipped with Intel Arc GPUs, while the 17-inch model will feature an Nvidia GeForce RTX4050 graphics card.
One of the key new features is the integration of AI technology in its laptops. The company is incorporating an on-device AI system that it calls “Gram Chat On-Device”. This AI-powered tool allows for offline capabilities, including a feature called “Time Travel” which enables users to quickly revisit recently accessed web pages, documents, videos and audio files.
Additionally, LG has announced the introduction of its Gram Link 2.0 technology, which streamlines document and file sharing with other PCs and iOS or Android-based smartphones. This new feature also allows incoming phone calls to be answered through the laptops, eliminating the need to switch between devices temporarily.
The company is also adding offline AI features that will be powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o. These cloud-based AI capabilities require an active internet connection and are initially free for a year. It remains unclear which specific AI features will be available on each laptop in the new Gram lineup, but it’s clear that LG is taking steps to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to AI-powered laptops.
Lastly, the company announced the arrival of its entry-level Gram Book to the US market next year. This budget-friendly option will be powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and feature a 15.6-inch 60Hz full HD display, as well as up to 1TB SSD storage and 16GB DDR4 memory.
LG’s decision to incorporate AI technology into its laptops is likely an effort to differentiate itself from other competitors in the market.
