Behind the Scenes of SEVENTEEN’s BBMAs Performance
The K-pop sensation took to the stage at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, June [insert date], delivering a high-energy performance that left fans mesmerized. But what went into making this unforgettable show? We spoke with directing duo seven to five (Kylie Kang and Jihoon Jeon) who brought SEVENTEEN’s vision to life.
According to the creative team, their goal was to craft an experience that felt as live as possible, given the time constraints of the BBMAs performance. “Because we had a limited amount of time to develop a performance that felt as live as possible,” explained Kang, “we thought a lot about how to make each movement feel smooth and cohesive.” Jeon added, “We wanted to bring the live aspect to life by looking at it widely.”
The concept behind the show centered around SEVENTEEN spreading love in various spaces. As seasoned professionals who have worked with the group on their music videos, Kang and Jeon aimed to translate this theme onto the BBMAs stage.
“We’ve had the pleasure of working with SEVENTEEN on their music videos,” said Jeon. “We wanted to bring that same energy and creativity to the BBMAs performance.” Kang echoed his sentiment, emphasizing the importance of staying true to the group’s artistic vision.
The outcome was a visually stunning display that showcased the members’ impressive choreography and captivating stage presence. The 13-piece K-pop phenomenon has been making waves globally with their genre-bending sound and striking visuals.
