China has rejected the allegations made by the United States regarding a hacking incident at the US Treasury Department’s workstations. The claims were made by the US Treasury Department, stating that a Chinese state-sponsored actor was behind the breach of employee workstations using BeyondTrust’s Remote Support product.
According to sources, the incident occurred when an unauthorized third-party accessed the system, leading to potential compromise of sensitive information. However, China has denied any involvement in the attack and called the allegations “baseless smear attacks.”
It is worth noting that BeyondTrust, a software platform providing access software and other cybersecurity products, holds contracts with various federal agencies, including the US Treasury Department.
