Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1292 Hints, Clues And Answer For Wednesday, January 1st
As we ring in the new year with a fresh start and a hint of excitement, I’m thrilled to bring you today’s Wordle puzzle for January 1st. The usual rules apply – no spoilers, just hints and clues until tomorrow when the answer will be revealed.
Let’s get started! Here are your hints and clues for Wordle #1292:
First off, the audacity! The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter.
Now that we have our hints and clues, let’s dive into my own experience with this puzzle. I opened with YEARS, not entirely surprising given the occasion, but unfortunately, it wasn’t terribly successful by any means. 54 words remained after my initial attempt, along with a green and yellow box to guide me further.
After that, MERIT only slashed the remaining options to 7, but my third – and final – guess landed on NERVE for the win! It’s been an exciting year of Wordle challenges, and I’m grateful to have ended it on this high note. Competitive players, take note: you can earn points by guessing in fewer attempts or beating the Bot, who took four tries today. Let’s see how we all fare in the coming year!
As we bid adieu to 2023, let’s take a moment to appreciate the etymology of our winning word. ‘Nerve’ originates from the Latin nervus, meaning “sinew” or “tendon,” which also referred to strength, vigor, and physical cords within the body. This concept evolved into Greek neuron (νεῦρον), signifying cord, tendon, or nerve in an anatomical context. The metaphorical use of ‘nerve’ to signify courage or boldness emerged in the 18th century, stemming from the connection between physical strength and inner fortitude.
