Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1292 Hints, Clues And Answer For Wednesday, January 1st
Happy New Year’s! As we kick off the new year with a fresh Wordle puzzle, I’m excited to share this article with you. Are you ready to solve today’s brain teaser? Let’s dive in!
Today’s Wordle Puzzle
We’re presented with an intriguing riddle that reads:
“It cannot be seen, cannot be felt, Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills.
It comes out first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter.”
This enigmatic poem invites us to ponder the nature of existence. As we explore this puzzle, remember that there’s a double letter in today’s Wordle.
My Approach
As I began, I opted for the straightforward approach and typed in the word “YEARS.” Although it wasn’t entirely wrong, the response was less than satisfying, with 54 letters left to guess. Undeterred, I decided to pivot and try “MERIT,” hoping to shave off a few more letters. To my surprise, this choice brought me down to a mere 7 options.
After these two attempts, I made a crucial breakthrough by guessing the winning word: NERVE. This triumphant conclusion earned me not only the win but also bragging rights, as I managed to solve it in three attempts.
Competitive Wordle Score
For those who participate in our competitive aspect, here’s how the scoring works:
* Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points
* Guessing in 2 is worth 2 points
* Guessing in 3 is worth 1 point
* Guessing in 4 is worth 0 points
* Guessing in 5 is -1 point
* Guessing in 6 is -2 points
* Missing the Wordle is -3 points
To make things more engaging, we’ll be tracking scores. If you win, you earn 1 point; if you tie, it’s a scoreless draw, but if you lose to your opponent, you’ll receive -1 point.
Today’s Word Etymology
The word “nerve” originates from the Latin term “nervus,” meaning “sinew” or “tendon.” This etymological connection carries over into Greek as “neuron” (νεῦρον), signifying “sinew, tendon, or cord.” As time passed, this anatomical concept evolved to encompass the figurative use of nerve for courage or boldness. This metaphorical transformation gained traction during the 18th century.
