PATRICK MARMION reviews: New Orleans and Las Vegas Terror Attacks – A Descent into Chaos
As I sit here, trying to make sense of these two unrelated but equally devastating terror attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas, all I can think is that we are living through a time where the fabric of our society seems to be unraveling before our very eyes.
The news from both cities paints a picture of utter chaos and carnage. In New Orleans, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, an ISIS supporter, has been accused of mowing down 15 innocent people in a rampage that will leave scars for generations to come. Meanwhile, in Las Vegas, Matthew Livelsberger, a married Green Beret from Colorado Springs, has blown up a Cybertruck outside Trump’s hotel, leaving a trail of destruction and panic.
The common thread between these two incidents is the utter disregard for human life, the complete lack of empathy, and the sheer brutality that we are witnessing. It’s like we’re trapped in some sort of twisted nightmare where the rules of humanity no longer apply.
And yet, as I watch the news unfold, I’m struck by the eerie familiarity of it all. The same tired tropes – the lone gunman, the ISIS flag, the Cybertruck explosion – they all blend together into a cacophony of madness that leaves me wondering if we’re just too numb to truly process what’s happening.
But amidst all this chaos, there are glimmers of hope. A mom shares an eerie premonition she had before her daughter was murdered in Nola, a sign perhaps that even in the darkest moments, there is always room for compassion and humanity. And then, of course, there’s Donald Trump himself, who has vowed to rid America of “violent scum” – a promise that resonates deeply with his base.
As I conclude this review, I’m left wondering what kind of world we’re living in when the most shocking news becomes just another day in our increasingly bizarre reality.
