Ripple CEO Welcomes Most ‘Pro-Crypto US Congress’ in History
As the 119th US Congress officially took office, Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse has issued a statement welcoming the new administration. In a tweet, he referred to it as the “most pro-crypto Congress in history.” This marks a significant shift in the regulatory environment for the cryptocurrency industry.
Garlinghouse’s optimism comes after his previous comments on the impact of Trump-backed Mike Johnson winning the election. He had stated that US-based cryptocurrency projects benefited significantly from Trump’s victory, which led to the suppression of similar businesses under the Biden administration and the SEC.
The Ripple CEO believes that this new Congress will bring a more favorable regulatory framework for the industry. Specifically, he hopes that it will lead to a quicker and perhaps more favorable closure to Ripple’s four-year-long legal battle with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC). This case has been ongoing since 2019 and has yet to reach a conclusion.
The XRP community is naturally excited about these developments, as they see the potential for positive change. However, it remains to be seen how exactly this new administration will approach cryptocurrency regulation in practice.
