HBO has made a sudden decision to cancel its satirical comedy series “The Franchise” after just one season. Created by Jon Brown and executive produced by Sam Mendes and Armando Iannucci, the show had wrapped up its eight-episode run in November.
According to reports from Deadline, HBO expressed gratitude to the creative team, including Brown, Mendes, and Iannucci, as well as the “hilarious ensemble of actors” who contributed to the project. The statement went on to praise the collaboration with the cast and crew, stating, “We’re so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the tremendously talented team behind The Franchise.”
Despite its premise focusing on a film crew working on a massive superhero franchise, it appears that viewers didn’t quite respond in kind. The show failed to ever crack the Top 10 Nielsen rankings during its run.
