Amazon is Shipping the Kindle Colorsoft Again, But It’s Unclear If It’s Fixed
Amazon has started shipping its Kindle Colorsoft once more, following reports of a yellow discoloration issue on some units. However, it remains to be seen whether these new devices have been resolved or not.
When The Verge initially reviewed the Kindle Colorsoft, we noticed the unwanted colors that users didn’t want. Unfortunately, the issue persisted even after Amazon announced it was taking steps to address the problem.
Now, some customers who received replacements in the last two weeks claim that while the yellow discoloration is still present on their new devices, it has become less noticeable. Some users have reported that the replacement’s screen appears darker than their original device, but this change might actually make the issue more tolerable.
Amazon has released a statement saying it made “a combination of software and display adjustments” to fix the problem, without elaborating on what those changes entail.
