Everything’s Coming Up Disney
Fubo’s second-biggest hurdle is now out of the way, and its biggest challenge – a Department of Justice that cares about antitrust – is on the way out. But amidst all these changes in the streaming landscape, it seems like only one thing can bring people together: a company with deep pockets buying up its main competitor.
As I wrote yesterday, Disney has made some big moves lately. It’s not just Fubo; the House of Mouse wants to own Hulu and even Hulu Plus – which makes sense when you consider that Disney already owns 90% of the service. And now, after a long legal battle, it appears they’ve finally secured that deal.
Now, I’m sure you’re wondering why this matters. It’s not just about antitrust, although that does play a role in all of this. What we’re seeing here is something far more profound – an attempt by Disney to solidify its dominance in the streaming market.
