Anker made a solar beach umbrella, because of course
The Solix Solar Beach Umbrella doesn’t have a price, but it is brilliant.
In what can only be described as the most logical and anticipated move by Anker, the company has decided to expand its Solix line of home energy products to the outdoors with the introduction of a solar beach umbrella at CES 2025. This flexible, freestanding shade structure not only provides protection from the rain (rated IP67), but also allows users to harness the power of the sun to charge their devices or power other Anker products, such as its EverFrost 2 cooler.
What makes this innovation stand out is the attachment of flexible solar panels on top, utilizing perovskite solar cells that boast a significant 30% better performance compared to traditional crystalline silicon cells. This translates to an impressive solar rated power output of up to 80W. Unfortunately, Anker has been tight-lipped about the specifics of how this technology works, including the launch date and price.
However, this development is not entirely unexpected. In 2023, Anker launched its Solix line of home energy products, which included Tesla Powerwall-esque home backup batteries and retrofitted portable solar panels and large-capacity batteries to align with the brand’s existing portfolio. It only makes sense that they would expand their offerings to the outdoors with a product like this.
The Solix Solar Beach Umbrella is slated for release in either spring or summer 2025, although no further details have been provided by Anker regarding pricing or availability.
