Microsoft has announced a significant push into the Indian market by investing $3 billion over the next two years. This move is part of the company’s effort to expand its presence in Asia, particularly in India.
According to sources close to the matter, Microsoft has entered into several agreements with both public and private sector organizations across various industries such as railways, healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, and education.
One of these partnerships includes an agreement with the Indian Ministry of Electronics and IT. Under this deal, Microsoft will be providing support for data collection and synthetic generation on the IndiaAI Mission Datasets platform. Additionally, the company has committed to training 500,000 individuals in AI technologies by 2026.
Furthermore, the collaboration will also involve setting up an AI Center of Excellence, known as AI Catalysts, aimed at promoting rural AI innovation and establishing AI labs in 20 national skill training institutes.
The company has also partnered with RailTel, a government-backed firm, to advance “digital, cloud and AI transformation” within the Indian railways.
In another significant partnership, Microsoft will be working with Apollo Hospitals to develop AI-powered “copilots” for healthcare services.
