The new Witcher animated film finally has a legit trailer
Netflix subscribers have been eagerly awaiting the release of the latest animated film based on the popular Witcher franchise. And today, their patience has finally been rewarded with the premiere of an official full-fledged trailer for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.
But that’s not all – this new animated movie comes with a significant twist. Geralt, the iconic protagonist voiced by Doug Cockle, will be reprising his role from the video games. Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey will also be back to voice Yennefer of Vengerberg and Jaskier respectively, all within the universe of the TV show.
This new animated film takes place during events that occurred in the first season of the live-action show, with a story inspired by the short story “A Little Sacrifice” by Andrzej Sapkowski. In this tale, Geralt investigates a series of attacks in a seaside village and gets caught up in a conflict between humans and merpeople.
The movie’s direction is being handled by Kang Hei Chul, who previously worked on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, where he was a storyboard artist. The animation duties are being taken care of by Studio Mir, which boasts an impressive portfolio with shows like X-Men ’97, The Legend of Korra, and Voltron: Legendary Defender.
It’s worth noting that there is no new game in the franchise coming out, but fans will have to wait until 2026 for the release of the fifth season of the TV show.
