Billboard – Rush’s Members Might Still Jam Together, but a Reunion Isn’t Happening
Despite the recent surge in nostalgia for classic rock bands, it seems like Rush won’t be reuniting anytime soon. In an interview with Billboard, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson expressed their gratitude towards fans for continuing to support the band’s music, but they made it clear that a reunion is not on the cards.
While the idea of seeing the iconic trio take the stage together once again might have been tantalizing, Lifeson revealed that even though they are still close friends and occasional collaborators, there hasn’t been any serious talk about reuniting the band. “We’re all doing our own things, and we’re all very happy with what we’re doing,” he stated.
Lee echoed Lifeson’s sentiments, emphasizing that their decision to disband in 2018 was a deliberate choice to prioritize their individual creative pursuits. “We’ve been doing this for so long, and I think it’s time for us to move on to other things,” the vocalist-bassist explained.
Despite the lack of a reunion, Lifeson hinted that they may still jam together from time to time, citing their recent collaborations with guitarist Kevin Jollay as an example. “We’re always open to playing music together, whether it’s for charity or just for fun,” he noted.
It appears that Rush fans will have to continue celebrating the band’s incredible discography and legacy without the prospect of a reunion tour. While the absence of new material might be disappointing, their enduring impact on the music world is undeniable.
