Donald Trump’s Ethereum Buying Spree Does Little for ETH Prices
United States President-elect Donald Trump has been making headlines by buying up large quantities of Ethereum (ETH), but unfortunately for ETH investors, his bullish action has had little to no effect on the cryptocurrency’s price.
Trump’s decentralized finance project, World Liberty Financial, has recently purchased a substantial amount of ETH. According to Lookonchain, the project spent $48 million in USDC to buy 14,403 ETH at $3,333 per coin over the past 12 hours. This massive purchase brings their total holdings to 33,629 ETH worth nearly $110 million, which is by far its largest holding.
The acquisition has also been met with a mix of reactions from the cryptocurrency community, with some users expressing excitement and others remaining bearish on ETH’s potential for growth.
Despite Trump’s continued support for Ethereum, however, it seems that his actions have not had any significant impact on the market. ETH prices have actually fallen 5% over the past 12 hours, dropping from $3,440 to around $3,260 at the time of writing during Monday morning Asian trading session.
