X adds a dedicated video tab to fill the TikTok void
In a move aimed at capitalizing on the uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s fate in the US market, X has announced the addition of a dedicated video tab for its users. This new feature will allow viewers to easily access and browse vertical videos within the app.
The development comes as a response to the recent turmoil surrounding TikTok, which bid adieu to its US users over the weekend before returning with no clear end in sight. X’s decision to introduce a standalone video tab is seen as an effort to fill the void left by TikTok’s uncertainty and capitalize on the growing demand for short-form video content.
The new video tab can be accessed through the app’s bottom bar, represented by a play button icon. This simplified approach eliminates the need for users to click on a video and then scroll up or down to access additional content. The development aligns with X’s existing focus on video-centric features, including its underwhelming TV app.
Meanwhile, Bluesky has also jumped into the fray, announcing a new vertical videos feed on Sunday. According to the company, users can now discover trending videos in the Explore tab and pin their favorite feeds for easy access.
