The Upcoming Metal Build God Gundam Toy Looks Truly Incredible
By Ollie Barder
Forbes contributor Ollie Barder takes a close look at the upcoming Metal Build God Gundam toy, which is now available for pre-order in Japan.
This August, fans of the Mobile Fighter G Gundam series will be able to get their hands on an incredible new toy. The Metal Build God Gundam has been previewed for a while now, but it’s finally going up for pre-order today in Japan.
The wait has been worth it, as this toy looks truly incredible. As you would expect from Bandai Spirits’ Metal Build series, the attention to detail is unparalleled. Every aspect of the design appears to have been meticulously recreated, from the intricate details on the Gundam’s armor to its menacing claws.
It’s also worth noting that this toy is a comprehensive representation of the God Gundam character, not just a shallow attempt at recreating the iconic mecha for the sake of making a quick buck. This level of dedication to accuracy and authenticity is truly impressive.
One thing that might raise an eyebrow among fans is the fact that this Metal Build toy does not transform. While it’s understandable that some might see this as a drawback, the sheer scale and intricate design of the God Gundam’s form makes it easy to overlook. The other gimmicks included in the toy (as shown above) are still impressive enough to make up for the lack of transformation.
While fans outside of Japan are left wondering if they will be able to get their hands on this incredible toy, it’s difficult not to feel hopeful that it will eventually be released in the West. The popularity of G Gundam among Western fans is undeniable, and Forbes contributor Ollie Barder believes that there is a good chance we could see a release outside of Japan.
The only real question mark surrounding this product is its price tag. Coming in at an astonishing 44,000 yen (or around $293 USD), it’s clear that Bandai Spirits has spared no expense in creating this masterpiece. Whether or not Western fans will be willing to shell out such a large sum for the toy remains to be seen.
Nonetheless, I’m glad that the Metal Build God Gundam is finally happening.
