Karmine Corp Wins The ‘Rocket League’ RLCS Birmingham Major
French organisation Karmine Corp has emerged victorious in the Rocket League RLCS Birmingham Major, defeating The Ultimates 4-0 in the grand final. The dominant performance in front of a packed crowd in Birmingham, England secured Karmine Corp’s second RLCS major championship title.
Karmine Corp demonstrated their superiority throughout the tournament, claiming three consecutive victories in the Swiss Stage to progress to the quarterfinals without losing a single match. Although they did experience a close 3-2 victory over Wildcard in their first match of the stage, they were able to bounce back and maintain their momentum.
Once the playoffs commenced, Karmine Corp showed no signs of slowing down, as they convincingly defeated NRG with a score of 4-2. This was followed by an impressive 4-0 victory over Furia in the semifinals, which served as a statement of intent heading into the championship match.
On the other side of the final, The Ultimates had to overcome a few close matches throughout their playoff journey. They initially advanced with a 3-1 record in the Swiss Stage, featuring a loss to NRG but victories over Luminosity Gaming, Gen.G, and Falcons. The Ultimates then secured their spot in the championship match by defeating Vitality 4-2 and later NRG in a revenge game with a score of 4-3.
The RLCS Birmingham Major final got off to an intense start, with both teams playing tight defense and struggling to find the back of the net. However, Karmine Corp’s consistency and determination eventually paid dividends as they scored the crucial goal in overtime to take the first match 1-0. The second game was a slightly different story, with Karmine taking an early 2-0 lead and maintaining their advantage until adding one more goal late in the match. With this score of 3-1, Karmine Corp took control of the championship, putting them in a strong position very early on.
The third game was more exciting, as both teams traded goals until Karmine Corp managed to take the lead once again and held on for the win. In the final match, with three championship points already secured, Karmine Corp could have taken their foot off the gas, but instead chose to play aggressively, securing an early lead and relying on exceptional defensive plays to protect it.
