Dave Coulier, the beloved actor who played Joey Gladstone on the popular sitcom “Full House,” has been open about his ongoing battle with cancer. The 64-year-old star recently revealed that he was hospitalized after contracting a virus that could have killed him.
Coulier, who is also known for his work on ” Fuller House” and other projects, began treatment in November. He shared updates about his journey with fans on social media, including the challenges he’s faced along the way.
The actor has been dealing with side effects from chemotherapy, such as dizziness that increased over time, fatigue that worsened with each round of treatment, and a decrease in his ability to be active.
“Some days, I just didn’t want to do anything,” Coulier shared. “Though I wanted to move around and go out and, you know, work around the house, I just couldn’t. There was so much cancer-related fatigue that got progressively worse and worse and worse, and I thought, ‘Wow, this is how it’s going to be.'”
Despite the difficulties, Coulier has remained positive with the support of his wife Melissa.
“He has some really tough days, and as the chemo has been accumulating it gets a little tougher and more difficult,” Melissa said during an interview. “He has such a positive attitude, and you need that in order to really fight it.”
To lift his spirits, Coulier and his wife engage in fun activities together, including morning dance parties with their dogs.
“He has had a lot of loss in his life when it comes to having to deal with cancer,” Melissa explained. “He lost his mother, his sister, his niece. His other sister had it too. I think for him, he takes every stride and really pulls strength from seeing the women that were so close in his life powering through it, and he just wants to honor them.”
Coulier recently completed his final round of chemotherapy and is looking forward to the future.
