Title: Justin Timberlake Recalls Pitching Beyoncé on ‘Single Ladies’ Male Dancer ‘SNL’ Sketch: ‘She Was Not Having It’
Justin Timberlake has recalled pitching a “Single Ladies” male dancer sketch to Beyoncé during her appearance on Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 2008. The actor and singer, who was hosting the show at the time, shared his story during an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
According to Timberlake, he tried to convince Beyoncé to participate in a sketch where she would be joined by a male dancer, mimicking her iconic choreography from the song. However, Queen Bey was not interested in the idea.
“She was not having it,” Timberlake said with a laugh. “I’m like, ‘Beyoncé, come on! We can do this! We can make fun of yourself!’ And she’s like, ‘No, no, no, I don’t want to do that.'”
The actor explained that he had initially thought the idea was genius, but Beyoncé quickly shut him down. “I was like, ‘Oh, okay, fine.’ And we didn’t end up doing it.”
Despite the failed pitch, Timberlake praised Beyoncé’s professionalism and willingness to poke fun at herself during her time on SNL.
“You know, she’s always been about empowering women,” he said. “And I think that’s really admirable of her. She’s not trying to make a joke out of herself; she’s trying to use her platform for good.”
Timberlake also discussed his own experiences hosting SNL and shared some hilarious stories from behind the scenes, including an infamous sketch with Tom Cruise.
