Justin Timberlake Recalls Pitching Beyoncé on ‘Single Ladies’ Male Dancer ‘SNL’ Sketch: ‘She Was Not Having It’
In a recent interview, Justin Timberlake shared a behind-the-scenes story about his time working with Beyoncé on Saturday Night Live. The pop star recalled pitching an idea for a “Single Ladies” sketch featuring a male dancer, but the Queen Bey was not impressed.
“I said, ‘Hey, what if we did a “Single Ladies” parody with a guy?’ And she’s like, ‘Uh, I don’t think that’s gonna work,'” Timberlake shared. “She was not having it.”
The original “Single Ladies” sketch, featuring Beyoncé as the lead singer and dancer, became an iconic moment in SNL history. While the idea of a male dancer may have been entertaining, it’s no surprise that Queen Bey wasn’t interested.
It’s worth noting that Timberlake has since expressed his admiration for the songstress on multiple occasions, and it’s clear he holds her work in high esteem.
