
US Justice Department says cybercrime forum allegedly affected 17 million Americans
On Thursday, the United States Justice Department announced that it has taken down two major cybercrime forums, Cracked and Nulled, in a joint operation with international law enforcement agencies. The seized platforms, which operated since 2016 and 2018 respectively, had millions of users who traded in stolen information and cybercriminal tools.
According to the DOJ, these cybercrime forums were used by over four million users on Cracked and five million users on Nulled to advertise hacking tools and stolen data. The seized platforms had a combined annual revenue of approximately $5 million.
Notably, the affected user base is staggering. According to the US Justice Department, this alleged crime has impacted at least 17 million Americans.
