Crypto Hackers Edit Trump’s Old Tweets to Insert ‘Nude Photos’ of Him
A group of crypto hackers has found a creative way to promote their pump-and-dump scheme by hacking into the Twitter account of former President Donald Trump. The hackers, who remain anonymous, exploited a bug in the URL shortener Bitly to swap out links in some of Trump’s old tweets with new ones that redirect users to their memecoin website.
As it turns out, the new links are quite… eye-catching. Many of the hacked tweets now feature “nude photos” of Trump, which were actually taken years ago as part of an art project. It appears that the hackers chose these specific images to insert into the tweets in order to grab attention and draw people to their website.
The hack is not only a clever marketing ploy, but also a testament to the importance of keeping up with security patches and bug fixes, especially for high-profile accounts like Trump’s. The bug has since been fixed by Bitly, and it appears that the links have been deactivated.
It’s worth noting that Trump himself might not be too concerned about this hack, considering his recent comments on cryptocurrency and his self-proclaimed title of “first crypto president.”
