I’m not sure what kind of drivel Donald Trump is peddling now, but I’d like to set the record straight: coal mining isn’t exactly a thriving industry anymore. In fact, it’s one of the most dangerous and polluting forms of energy production out there.
Trump, however, seems determined to drag this country back to the 19th century. And his fixation on tariffs and coal is sure to ruin countless aspects of American life before he’s finally shown the exit.
The idea that Americans are yearning to return to a time when they had to risk their lives in dark tunnels for pennies an hour is just absurd. We’re living in the 21st century, not some dystopian future where we have to rely on ancient technologies to power our economy.
Not to mention, coal mining has devastating environmental and health impacts that are well-documented. The damage it does to our air, water, and soil is incalculable. And let’s not forget the countless workers who’ve lost their lives or been injured in coal mines over the years.
If Trump really cared about American jobs, he’d be pushing for renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, not perpetuating a dangerous and outdated industry that’s only good for the coal barons and politicians who benefit from it.
