Keri Hilson Expresses Regret Over Dissing Beyoncé in 2009: ‘I Did Not Want to Do That’
In a recent interview, Keri Hilson has expressed regret over her past comments about Beyoncé. The singer-songwriter sparked controversy back in 2009 when she made some negative remarks about the Queen Bey during an interview with Billboard.
At the time, Hilson stated that “it’s hard for Beyoncé to relate to other people” because of her fame and wealth. She also said that she didn’t think Beyoncé was “going to be a huge star.”
It seems that Hilson has been reflecting on those comments and has come away with regret. In a recent interview, she expressed remorse over the way she spoke about Beyoncé.
“I did not want to do that,” Hilson stated, referring to her 2009 comments. “I was trying to be real, but I was also trying to be cute, and it didn’t work out that way.”
Hilson went on to clarify that she never meant to disrespect Beyoncé or undermine her success. “I didn’t mean to say anything negative about Beyoncé,” she emphasized. “It was a moment in time where I was trying to be real, but it didn’t come out as well as I wanted it to.”
It’s clear that Hilson has come to realize the harm caused by her words and is now taking steps to make amends. While it’s understandable that celebrities can have varying opinions about one another, it’s refreshing to see someone acknowledge their mistakes and express regret over hurtful comments.
In a statement, Beyoncé herself has not publicly addressed Hilson’s previous comments or this recent expression of remorse.
