Former All-American college skier dies in accident at Lake Tahoe resort
Ellie Curtis, a former All-American college skier and regulatory analyst for the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), has passed away following an unknown incident at a Lake Tahoe resort.
Curtis, a native of Waitsfield, Vermont, was known for her impressive skiing skills. Her coach described her as “dedicated to being the best skier she could be” and stated that there was nothing that would stop her from achieving her goals.
According to reports, Curtis was found injured in staff housing at Yosemite National Park, where she worked. The cause of her death is still under investigation.
The CPUC has issued a statement expressing their shock and grief over the sudden loss of their valued member.
“Ellie was a valued member of the CPUC, and she will be deeply missed. She came to the CPUC to protect the environment she cared about so deeply and was very excited about starting her career here,” an agency spokesperson said.
Curtis had graduated in 2022 with a degree in government and environmental studies from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
The incident is currently under investigation, and no further information has been released.
