Travis Kelce Undecided About Playing in 2025; Super Bowl Result Could Determine Future: Report
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s future with the team is uncertain, and the outcome of Sunday’s AFC Championship game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium could determine his decision.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kelce’s immediate future is tied to the result of Super Bowl LIX. A win would give him four rings and cement his status as a part of a dynasty that would be the first to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
Kelce, 34, has already had an illustrious career, having made 10 Pro Bowls and being named either First- or Second-team All-Pro seven times. He was also recently recognized for hosting “Saturday Night Live” in March 2023, shortly after winning his second Super Bowl.
The potential end of his playing career is a significant consideration given Kelce’s on-field performance this season. This year marked the first time since 2015 that he played in at least 16 games and failed to reach the 1,000-yard mark. Additionally, he scored only three touchdowns in the regular season, the lowest total outside of his one-game rookie season.
Despite these numbers, Kelce has been a dominant force in the postseason, as evidenced by his season-high 117 yards in the divisional round.
