‘Bad News’ and ‘Good News’ Emerge for Fans of ‘Severance’ and ‘Shogun’
In a recent update regarding the fates of two highly acclaimed TV shows, fans are left with mixed emotions. Apple’s ‘Severance’, currently airing its second season, has just confirmed that its writers room is assembled and working on the script for Season 3. While this is undoubtedly a positive development, the news also comes with a heavy heart, as it means we’ll have to wait even longer for new episodes.
According to reports, the goal of the writers room is to avoid keeping audiences waiting three years between seasons. Writing began after Season 2 was renewed in April 2022, and filming didn’t commence until October 2022, resulting in a long hiatus before Season 2’s release in January 2025. While it’s reassuring that this time around the process may be faster, it would still take at least two years for new episodes to drop.
Meanwhile, ‘Shogun’, the highly acclaimed miniseries, has also made an announcement regarding its future. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait even longer than before, as the show is aiming to start shooting Season 2 in the fall of 2025. This comes after star Hiroyuki Sanada revealed that half the cast would remain for the next installment. Considering ‘Shogun’ Season 1 began filming in September 2021 and released in February 2024, fans should prepare for a minimum two-year hiatus before new episodes arrive.
While it’s disheartening to have to wait so long for these exceptional shows, the prospect of more engaging storylines is undoubtedly exciting.
