Oppo Find N5: First Look At The World’s Thinnest Book-Style Foldable

I’ve had the privilege of getting an early look at the upcoming Oppo Find N5, touted to be the world’s thinnest book-style foldable phone. While it’s not officially launching until February 20 in Singapore, I’m excited to share my initial impressions with you.
First and foremost, let me confirm that this device is indeed astonishingly thin. Compared to its predecessor, the Oppo Find N5 boasts a significantly reduced profile. In fact, it’s more slender than some of its competitors, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. While I don’t have the Pixel 9 Pro Fold on hand to directly compare, the difference in thickness is palpable.
Another notable aspect of this device is its crease. Unlike many other foldables on the market, the Oppo Find N5’s display does not feature a noticeable, annoyingly deep groove when the phone is closed. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by how minimal the crease is – it’s barely perceptible when swiping my finger across the screen.
While specifications are still under wraps until launch day, I can confirm that the Oppo Find N5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Based on benchmarks from other devices using this processor (OnePlus 13 and Galaxy S25 Ultra), I’m expecting blistering performance in the foldable segment.
Furthermore, the phone is slated to offer IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 water resistance certifications – a significant improvement over its predecessor. Wireless charging will also be supported, which was an absent feature on earlier models.
In terms of overall build quality, I’m impressed by how sturdy this device feels despite its slender design. The hinge mechanism is robust and appears to be built to withstand daily use. It remains to be seen how well it holds up over extended periods, but initial impressions are promising.
Lastly, it’s worth noting that the Oppo Find N5 will not be sold as an Oppo-branded device in most major markets. Instead, I’ve been told that it’ll likely debut as the OnePlus Open 2 in countries like the USA and India. We’ll have to wait until launch day for more information on this topic.
