New Apple Pay Feature Allows Crypto Payments Through Mesh Network
Apple has recently announced a new feature that enables users to make cryptocurrency payments through the Mesh network. This innovative technology allows consumers to use their preferred cryptocurrencies while merchants receive stablecoins, solving what is referred to as the “last-mile” gap in crypto adoption for payments.
According to Mesh CEO Bam Azizi, this integration will allow consumers to use Apple Pay at checkout, authenticate with Face ID, and complete the transaction just like any traditional payment. In the background, Mesh converts cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Solana into stablecoins like USDC, USDT, or PYUSD.
This technology is designed to be user-friendly and works for both in-store transactions using Apple Pay’s NFC capabilities and e-commerce platforms. The flexibility of this solution provides merchants with a simple way to implement crypto payment options without requiring specialized equipment.
The launch of this feature is expected to take place later in the second quarter of 2025, allowing more businesses to accept cryptocurrency payments without having to directly handle digital assets.
