Ripple Labs has launched a new initiative in collaboration with Web3 Salon, offering up to $200,000 in grant funding for Japanese startups building on the XRP Ledger. This move further solidifies Ripple’s position in the Asian market, particularly in Japan, where it has already established strong ties through partnerships and collaborations.
The partnership between Ripple Labs and Web3 Salon aims to support early-stage blockchain projects that are focused on decentralized finance (DeFi), digital payments, and tokenization. Each selected project can receive a grant of up to $200,000 over the next year. This substantial funding will undoubtedly provide a significant boost to the recipients, enabling them to further accelerate their development and potentially create groundbreaking innovations in the blockchain space.
Ripple’s strong presence in Japan is not new news. In 2016, Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings partnered with Ripple Labs to establish a joint venture focused on promoting blockchain technology. Additionally, just last year, Ripple introduced NFT services on the XRP Ledger, allowing users to collect unique digital assets nicknamed “Myaku N!” within the EXPO2025 Digital Wallet.
The company has also expanded its reach by partnering with Futureverse, an AI and metaverse organization, ensuring the safety and security of their customers’ digital assets. This alliance demonstrates Ripple’s commitment to safeguarding digital transactions and solidifying its position as a major player in this space.
Furthermore, Ripple welcomed Yonsei University in Korea into its University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), marking the 58th global partner.
