Will Mexico Sue Google Over ‘Gulf Of America’?
Mexico’s government has taken a bold step in its disagreement with Google over the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico on Google Maps. In a new letter to the tech giant, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard has warned that if Google doesn’t revert the name change, his country will take legal action against the company.
This development comes after Google announced earlier this month that it would be updating its maps to reflect President Trump’s executive order renaming the body of water as the “Gulf of America.” Mexico and Cuba continue to refer to the area as the “Gulf of Mexico,” citing their jurisdiction over parts of the region.
