
Janis Ian, Brenda Russell, Vicki Peterson & More to Be Honored by Women Songwriters Hall of Fame

The Women Songwriters Hall of Fame will celebrate its fifth anniversary over two days this week at the Mead Center for American Theatre in Washington, D.C. As part of this milestone celebration, a star-studded list of honorees has been unveiled, featuring an array of talented women songwriters.
Among those to be honored are Grammy-winning Janis Ian and Brenda Russell, alongside Vicki Peterson, best known for her work with The Bangles, as well as Regina Belle, Melba Moore, Julie Giroux, YoYo (aka Yolanda Whitaker), Christina Shusho, Asha Puthli, and Dr. Stacy L. Smith.
The organization, founded by Dr. Janice McLean DeLoatch, aims to achieve parity and recognition for women in music, opening doors for those whose talents will bring us joy, inspiration, and their songs on the radio for the next 50 years.
This year’s honorees include two-time Grammy winner Janis Ian; Grammy nominee Melba Moore and Brenda Russell, as well as country singer Lari White, who passed away in 2018.
