Aptos Tops Blockchain Ranking in Wyoming Stablecoin Pilot Selection
The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has announced the top candidates for its stablecoin pilot program, with Aptos emerging as the leading blockchain, scoring a whopping 32 points. Sei came in second with 30 points.
It appears that the commission assessed over 10 blockchains, with a performance test being used to evaluate each platform. The evaluation measured crucial metrics such as transactions per second, transaction fees, and time to finality. A mysterious X user named Phillip, who is associated with the Sei project, shared details of the evaluation.
In a surprising twist, Solana also scored 32 points but was not selected for the pilot program. It remains unclear what factors led to Aptos and Sei being chosen over Solana.
The Wyoming stablecoin, pegged to the US dollar and backed by short-duration US Treasury bonds, is designed to operate under government oversight while maintaining cross-blockchain compatibility. The initiative aims to create a legal framework for the project and will be developed in collaboration with LayerZero.
According to reports, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon indicated that the WYST stablecoin could launch as early as July this year. This announcement was part of a broader statement on state-level digital asset development.
The outcome of the pilot program is expected to test the practical use cases for the WYST stablecoin across the selected blockchains, including Aptos and Sei.
