Russian Leader Claims Multiple Countries Prepped to Provide Iran Nuclear Weapons Following US Strikes
Russia’s former president claimed that multiple nations are poised to supply Iran with nuclear warheads after the United States launched strikes against three key Iranian nuclear facilities.
The statement made by Dmitry Medvedev, now the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia, has sparked concerns regarding the potential escalation of tensions in the Middle East. This comes as the US military has confirmed that over 125 aircraft and 24 Tomahawk missiles were used in the attack on Iran.
Medvedev stated that “the enrichment of nuclear material — and now we can say it outright, the future production of nuclear weapons — will continue.” He added that a number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads.
Russia has historically backed Iran’s nuclear program. The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, also offered to mediate peace talks between Iran and Israel on Wednesday. Furthermore, Russia was involved in the 2015 agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which lifted sanctions on Iran in exchange for limits on its nuclear program. However, Trump withdrew from the deal in 2018.
In a recent address, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that the US will work with allies in the region to aid in force protection following the strikes.
