As the highly anticipated release of the iPhone 17 series draws near, a new leak has emerged, suggesting that Apple is planning a major design upgrade for the upcoming device. According to Digital Chat Station, a reliable leaker on Weibo who has accurately predicted Apple’s moves in the past, the display size of the regular iPhone will be increased.
Currently, the iPhone 16 features a screen measuring 6.1 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro boasts a larger 6.3-inch display. The new report indicates that the upcoming iPhone 17 model will mirror the Pro series’ design by adopting a 6.3-inch screen as well.
This development aligns with an earlier rumor from analyst Ross Young, which hinted at a similar change in the display refresh rate. However, it appears that instead of incorporating dynamic changes through ProMotion technology, Apple will merely shift the current 60Hz to a 120Hz screen without any significant alterations. While this may not be as exciting for some fans of the brand, the introduction of a higher refresh rate is still anticipated to enhance the overall user experience.
It’s also worth noting that iPhone 17 users will need to purchase a new case, as the larger display size of the Pro model has resulted in a fractional increase in dimensions. Consequently, existing iPhone 16 cases won’t be compatible with the newer device.
