China, Iran and Russia Condemned by Dissidents at UN Watchdog’s Geneva Summit
A group of human rights activists and critics of authoritarian regimes gathered in Geneva for the 2025 Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy. The event saw outspoken dissidents condemning China, Iran, and Russia for their egregious human rights abuses.
Garry Kasparov, a former world chess champion turned human rights activist, urged international leaders to take action against these violators of human rights. “The rot runs so deep” that the UN is approaching the question of replacing it altogether, rather than simply reforming it, Kasparov warned.
Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi also took aim at his nation’s leadership, calling for the removal of the Islamic Republic regime. He emphasized that the struggle for women’s freedom in Iran goes beyond just the hijab requirement, asserting that “it is about reclaiming their equality and their country.”
Meanwhile, Ukrainian survivor of two poisoning attempts by Russia, Vitali Shin, spoke out against his nation’s brutal treatment at the hands of Vladimir Putin’s government.
