Green Day was recently trolled by a fan who got invited on stage and instead of playing the iconic “Good Riddance” as expected, decided to play an Oasis hit. The incident occurred during their recent concert in Luxembourg.
The band’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong handed over one of his acoustic guitars to a lucky fan plucked from the audience, giving him the opportunity to perform alongside the band on the 1997 hit “Good Riddance”. However, it seemed that the fan had different plans. As captured by fans in attendance and subsequently shared online, the fan started playing the wrong chords as Armstrong looks visibly confused.
Undeterred, Armstrong attempted to help the fan out by reminding him of the proper key. But before he could get a word out, the fan surprisingly started playing the chord progression of Oasis’ massive hit “Wonderwall”.
Armstrong’s facial expression was priceless as realization dawned on his face that the fan had gone rogue. The incident marked just another viral moment from Green Day’s ongoing tour, dubbed “The Saviors Tour”, which kicked off in May 2024.
This is not the first time Armstrong has made headlines recently, having called out the US government for being a fascist regime during their performance at Download Festival in the UK last month.
