Florida Teen Thwarts Potential Tragedy After Threatening to Shoot Up McDonald’s Restaurant
In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old teenager from Florida has been taken into custody by the authorities for allegedly making threatening phone calls to a local McDonald’s restaurant. The reason behind his actions is reportedly linked to a disagreement over a $5 meal deal.
According to reports, Dayton Schaffer placed three consecutive calls to the north Lakeland location of the fast-food chain at around 11:30 pm on June 30. It was during one of these calls that he allegedly threatened to shoot up the restaurant if his order was not corrected.
The authorities were alerted by the manager, who expressed concern over the threat. When questioned about the reason behind his actions, Schaffer claimed that it was a joke and that he had simply made the calls out of frustration due to McDonald’s messing up his $5 meal deal. However, law enforcement officials remained unconvinced by his explanation, leading to his subsequent arrest.
Schaffer has been charged with two counts: false report concerning the use of a firearm against one or more persons and misuse of a two-way communication device. Both charges are classified as felonies.
