Blind Date: He Isn’t Good-Looking and None of His Features Stood Out – We Have Nothing in Common
Despite the numerous blind dates I’ve been on, I never thought I’d be writing about one that was so… unremarkable. But here’s my attempt to recount a rather underwhelming experience with a guy I met on a dating app.
To be honest, he wasn’t what I would consider “good-looking.” None of his features stood out to me – no striking eyes or chiseled jawline. He was just… average. The kind of person you might pass in the street without giving a second glance.
As we started talking, it became clear that we had nothing in common. Well, not even anything remotely similar. No shared hobbies, no favorite TV shows or movies – just two people awkwardly trying to find conversation topics.
I recall asking him about his job (he’s an accountant), and he spent the next 15 minutes detailing every single detail of his spreadsheet software. I was bored to tears by the end of it. When I tried to steer the conversation towards something more light-hearted, he politely but firmly redirected me back to his work.
At one point, I asked him what kind of music he liked. He responded with a lengthy explanation about the importance of accurate financial planning for musicians. You read that right – I didn’t even get an answer; it was all about accounting.
Needless to say, our date came to an abrupt end after 45 minutes. We politely parted ways, exchanging awkward goodbyes and never-to-be-repeated “dates.”
As I reflect on this experience, I’m reminded of the importance of being honest with oneself during online dating. Clearly, my blind date wasn’t the one for me – or even worth a second glance.
