As the third quarter begins, Bitcoin (BTC) has opened with a flat return of -0.2% at around $107,804.50. The recent performance of the cryptocurrency is in stark contrast to its 29.74% surge during the previous quarter.
Bitcoin’s price action has been trending upward since June, closing out Q2 with a monthly gain of 2.49%. This strong result follows an 11.82% dip in Q1, resulting in a tumultuous start to the year.
Historically, Bitcoin’s third quarters have not exhibited any clear trend. Over the past 12 years, only 6 Q3 periods have ended with positive returns. The most notable gains were seen in 2013 (+40.6%), 2017 (+80.41%), and 2021 (+25.01%). On the flip side, this quarter has also witnessed significant losses, including those in 2014 (-39.54%) and 2019 (-22.86%).
