Substack Brings New Updates To Livestreaming As It Increases Video Push
Over the past year, Substack has significantly expanded its video tools for creators, transitioning from a platform primarily focused on newsletters. Just yesterday, the company announced new features aimed at assisting publishers in growing and promoting their livestreams.
In recent developments, Substack is now allowing creators to share clips of their live videos on Notes. Furthermore, Substack will notify them in real-time about the performance of these clips. This new capability enables publishers to determine which clips they should upload to other platforms, such as YouTube Shorts, to expand their audience reach. If a creator connects their YouTube account, the top two clips will be uploaded to their Shorts channels.
The latest feature is currently available on the iOS app and is expected to become accessible on Android next week. Substack utilizes AI to create short highlight clips from video recordings.
Additionally, when users schedule a livestream, Substack automatically generates promotional assets to share on Notes, YouTube, and other social media platforms, thus saving publishers time and effort. A smaller but still valuable addition includes the ability for creators to invite guests via email or SMS, which will be helpful for followers who do not have a Substack account.
This update comes shortly after Substack’s introduction of audio-only livestreams and a scrollable video feed. The platform also rolled out live video capabilities to all publishers earlier this year.
