Google Releases New Feature Boost To Millions Of iPhone Owners
In a significant move, Google has announced the release of a new feature for millions of iPhone owners, which enables them to conduct image searches using gestures. The feature, known as Lens, is now available on iOS devices in English-speaking countries where AI Overviews are supported.
The newly added functionality allows users to launch the Chrome app and then select “Search Screen with Google Lens” from the three-dot menu. Following this, they can draw a circle around or tap the image to initiate a search. The search function utilizes AI-powered technology to match the picture against a database of indexed images from the web.
The introduction of direct image analysis eliminates the need for users to take a screenshot and then ask Lens to analyze it, making the process significantly more streamlined and convenient. The feature was initially showcased as Circle to Search on Samsung and Pixel devices, but this update brings the same functionality to iOS users.
However, iPhone owners will notice that accessing this tool is less straightforward than their Android counterparts. Unlike on Android, where long-pressing the screen bottom activates the feature, iOS users can only access it through the Chrome browser, Google app, or compatible apps that support the function.
