Title: Daichi Miura Talks ‘Miraculous’ Effort of ‘Death Stranding 2’ Tracks, Perspective as a Longtime Video Game Aficionado: Interview
In an exclusive interview with Billboard Japan, renowned pop star Daichi Miura opened up about his creative process and experience working on the soundtrack for DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH. The 37-year-old artist dropped a double A-sided single called “Horizon Dreamer / Polytope” on June 25, which was specifically produced by long-time collaborator Nao’ymt.
As a longtime video game aficionado and fan of renowned game creator Hideo Kojima, Miura delved into the inspiration behind his tracks. On “Horizon Dreamer,” he revealed that it was written with images from the game in mind, but also emphasized the importance of creating a standalone pop song. Nao’ymt, who produced both tracks, managed to seamlessly blend the essence and progression of Miura’s music up until now into the song.
The Japanese artist expressed his admiration for Kojima-san’s relentless craftsmanship, stating that he “has no compromise in the way he does things.” He also praised Nao’ymt’s ability to trust him with his vision and allow him to bring out the best in himself. Miura further emphasized his passion for gaming and its potential to reach a wider audience.
The artist expressed his excitement about the response to the tracks, stating that he was too focused on the music to remember much of the experience. However, he noted that the atmosphere after the performance was incredible, with the audience visibly enthralled by the experience.
On the connection between “Horizon Dreamer” and “Polytope,” Miura emphasized that despite their differing tones, they share a common root, urging listeners to immerse themselves in the tracks and explore the world of DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH.
In addition to his work on the soundtrack, Miura also expressed his desire to introduce his music to a global audience through his collaboration with Kojima-san.
