Jeff Bezos has made a surprising admission, stating that he believes the internet is better than the Washington Post’s opinion editorial page. The Amazon founder and CEO made the comment during a recent interview, where he praised the vast amount of information available online.
“It’s incredible what you can find on the internet,” Bezos said. “I mean, I’m not saying it’s perfect, but in terms of access to knowledge and different viewpoints, I think the internet has really stepped up its game.”
He contrasted this with his own experience at the Washington Post, where he noted that op-eds often feel restricted by their 500-word limit.
“I’ve learned a lot from reading those editorials, don’t get me wrong,” Bezos said. “But let’s be real, if I want to read about a topic and have a more comprehensive understanding of it, the internet is where it’s at.”
This comment comes as no surprise given Bezos’ well-documented history as an advocate for digital media.
